چکیده

A new compact active turbulence generator is developed, tested, and characterized, which extends the capabilities of such generators used in turbulent premixed combustion research. The composed two blades that resemble shape bow-ties. Hot-wire anemometry high-speed imaging are performed to characterize non-reacting flow produced by dynamics, respectively. Two mean bulk velocities 5.0 7.0 m/s examined. For comparison purposes, addition developed generator, tests also for a free jet as well one perforated plates. results show centerline root square velocity fluctuations can become about 1.8~m/s, several folds larger than literature reacting flows generated grids. newly device, power-law decay one-dimensional kinetic energy -1.0 -1.3 m/s, normalized dissipation rate smallest while largest. spectral analysis data does not dominant frequencies equal rotation frequencies; and, dimensional spectra follow -5/3 1/3 relations. It shown that, small eddies device dissipate faster those corresponding rest tested generators.

Subgrid Combustion Modeling for Premixed Turbulent Reacting Flows *

Two combustion models for turbulent premixed combustion in the flamelet regime are developed for unsteady simulations. The first model is a convensional G equation flamelet model and the main issues discussed are the subgrid closure. The second model is based on the Linear-Eddy Model. Both models are used in simulation of turbulent stagnation point flames. The heat release and turbulence intens...

Non-premixed Flame-Turbulence Interaction in Compressible Turbulent Flow

Nonpremixed turbulent reacting flows are intrinsically difficult to model due to the strong coupling between turbulent motions and reaction. The large amount of heat released by a typical hydrocarbon flame leads to significant modifications of the thermodynamic variables and the molecular transport coefficients and thus alters the fluid dynamics [1],[4]. Additionally, in nonpremixed combustion,...

Characteristics of chemically reacting compressible homogeneous turbulence

Direct numerical simulations ~DNS! are conducted to study the turbulence-chemical reaction interactions in homogeneous decaying compressible fluid flows. The reaction is of a single-step irreversible Arrhenius type. The results indicate that the heat of reaction has a noticeable influence on the solenoidal and the dilatational turbulent motions. The effect of reaction on the solenoidal velocity...

Effect of heat release on turbulence and scalar-turbulence interaction in premixed combustion

Stereoscopic particle image velocimetry and planar laser induced fluorescence measurements of hydroxyl radical are simultaneously applied to measure, respectively, local turbulence intensities and flame front position in premixed ethylene-air flames stabilized on a bluff body. Three different equivalence ratios, 0.55, 0.63, and 0.7, and three different Reynolds numbers, 14 000, 17 000, and 21 0...
